Kristina Ortiz of Morrisville, Pa. carded a 2-over-par 74 to take medalist honors in U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Qualifying administered by GAP Wednesday at Lookaway Golf Club (par 72, 6,141 yards).
Ortiz, a Yardley Country Club member, made five birdies and seven bogeys to get to the magic number.
Ortiz grabbed one of four qualifying positions available. Joining her in the Championship proper are Mary McGuinness of Haddonfield, N.J., Samantha Perrotta of Bordentown, N.J. and Madelein Burger of New Hope, Pa. The cutline stopped at 7-over-par 79 by day’s end.
The 37th U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship will be contested at Brae Burn Country Club in West Newton, Mass. Sept. 7-12.
