Huntsville’s Lugiano medals in Open Qualifying

Michael Lugiano, less than 24 hours removed from winning the 74th Delaware Amateur Championship, earned medalist honors in Open Championship Qualifying at Radnor Valley Country Club (par 70, 6,513 yards) Thursday.

Lugiano, 19, of Jackson Township, Pa., earned one of 22 qualifying positions and ties available for the Championship proper. The cut line stopped at 3-over-par 73 by day’s end.

The 121st Open Championship will take place July 16-17 at Bidermann Golf Course in Wilmington, Del.
