Evancho, Risner, Dennis and Blythe combine for GAP/DSGA Team Challenge at Hartefeld

AVONDALE, Pa. – Patrick Evancho, Dennis Risner and Greg Blythe of Newark Country Club teamed up with Frog Hollow Golf Club’s Andrew Dennis to shoot 7-under 137 and capture the gross victory at the GAP/DSGA Team Challenge at Hartefeld National Golf Club (par 72, 6,134 yards) Monday. The format of the event was best two of four balls of a four-person team and featured gross and net flights.

The group carded red figures on Nos. 2 (par 5, 441 yards), 5 (par 3, 142 yards), 6 (par 4, 370 yards), 8 (par 5, 496 yards), 10 (par 4, 360 yards), 13 (par 5, 508 yards), 14 (par 3, 177 yards), 17 (par 4, 419 yards) and 18 (par 4, 347 yards).

Grabbing Flight 2’s trophy was the Ed Oliver Golf Club team featuring Anthony Orsini, Louis Orsini, Thomas Cox and Ken Beard who mustered 5-over 149 to best the field of 13 teams by two shots. The team circled Nos. 8 (par 5, 496 yards) and 12 (par 4, 319 yards) on their scorecard.

In Flight 1 of the net side of the tournament, Walter Bell and Jerry Temple of Ed Oliver Golf Club shared carts with Pete Farina of Philadelphia Publinks GA and Todd Farina of DuPont Country Club to record a 19-under 125. Flight 2 of the net competition was led by Play Golf Delaware’s Matthew Powell and Odessa National Golf Club’s Matthew Richter, John Flynn, and Kevin Brown.
