An exciting addition to the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Winter Series ensures that no one will be left out in the cold. New in 2018, each Winter Series event will include a Women’s Division, with a Women’s Player of the Year (Gross and Net) competition as an added element.
Registration for the spring slate of the 2017-18 edition opens today.
“With six dates on tap, players will hopefully have numerous opportunities to gain valuable Player of the Year points,” Chris Roselle, the Association’s Tournament Director, said. “If Mother Nature cooperates, this will be the first time we have conducted six events during either the fall or spring portion of the Winter Series.”
Below is a list of the aforementioned six venues scheduled to host events.

The Winter Series features a Players of the Year competition, now with six categories: Amateur Gross, Senior Gross, Amateur Net, Senior Net, Women’s Gross and Women’s Net. Participants in the Women’s Division can accrue points during the spring leg to determine the 2017-18 Women’s Gross and Women’s Net recipients.
Merion Golf Club’s J. Kirk Luntey heads both Senior sects entering the spring leg. Five-time reigning Amateur Net Player of the Year Greg Smith, a Radley Run Country Club member, remains atop that category with 570 points. For the second consecutive season, the Amateur Gross Division shows a pair of Little Mill Country Club buddies battling for the No. 1 spot. Joe Zulli holds a 42.5-point lead over David Waxman.
The Winter Series is open to all Golf Association of Philadelphia Amateur Members 18 years of age and older, Philadelphia Section of PGA Members and golf professionals at Member Clubs. It began in 2008 as a way to offer players of any skill level an opportunity to compete in tournament golf during the normally quiet, offseason months.
