Philling the GAP: EMPOWER Leadership Summit

GAP’s charitable arm, the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust, continues to grow. An example — one among many — is the EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing. Established in 2021, it benefits the Trust’s women’s endowment fund, which supports female caddies and recognizes their unique and important role in the game. The EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing features an opening reception complete with dinner and discussion, a mentoring breakfast and golf. Event sponsors steady its shoulders. Growing corporate partnerships is one of the goals here.

  • Saucon Valley Country Club hosted the inaugural EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing in 2021.
  • The inaugural EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing raised more than $100,000, with $50,000 earmarked in support of a new scholarship that the Trust will award to a female caddie.
  • The EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing is the brainchild of Billy Reube, a Trust alumnus (2013).
  • Bridget McLaughlin, an assistant professional at St. Davids Golf Club, conducted a clinic for those new to golf during the inaugural EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing.
  • The 2nd EMPOWER Leadership Summit and Scholarship Golf Outing will take place Sept. 6 at Huntingdon Valley Country Club.
