Philling the GAP: Community

The purpose of GAP is simple: to promote, protect and preserve the game of golf in the Philadelphia region. But within this purpose lies an inherent desire to give back beyond sport. In a continuing effort to expand its community outreach, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, conducted blood drives at Overbrook Golf Club, Tavistock Country Club and White Clay Creek Country Club. It wasn’t a one and done, either. GAP again partnered with the American Red Cross to conduct a blood drive at Blue Bell Country Club this year. Expect more community-oriented initiatives that go beyond golf in the near future.

  • The blood drives conducted in 2021 raised 84 viable donations for local hospital patients.
  • GAP Community, at its core, thinks outside the golf course.
  • Mia DeJohn, GAP Executive Assistant, leads GAP Community initiatives.

GAP
Celebrating Amateur Golf since 1897, GAP, also known as the Golf Association of Philadelphia, is the oldest regional or state golf association in the United States. It serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region. The Association’s 330 Member Clubs and 90,000 individual members are spread across Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. The GAP’s mission is to promote, preserve and protect the game of golf.
