Ropietski, 19, of Harveys Lake, Pa., earned one of three qualifying positions and ties available for the Championship proper. He carded five bogeys against zero bogeys.

The cutline stopped at 3-over-par 74 by day’s end.

The 122nd Joseph H. Patterson Cup presented by Provident Bank will take place Aug. 7-8 at Concord Country Club.

The third and final Patterson Cup Qualifying will take place July 25 at Moselem Springs Golf Club.

New in 2024, GAP expanded the Joseph H. Patterson Cup from 36 holes to 54 holes. The event will now be listed on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and eligible for points. Additionally, the field of 144 players will be cut to the low 40 scores and ties after Round One. For Rounds Two and Three, players will be paired in twosomes. There will no repairing before the final round. Consequently, the Silver Cross Award, presented to the player with the lowest aggregate score in the qualifying round(s) of the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship and the Joseph H. Patterson Cup, expands to five rounds.

Furthermore, the playoff for Patterson Cup moves from a four-hole aggregate format to a sudden-death playoff.
