Morganti medals in #PattersonCup Qualifying

Llanerch Country Club’s Joey Morganti, a Temple University golfer, collected a card of 5-under 65 to earn medal honors in Joseph H. Patterson Cup Qualifying at Conestoga Country Club (par 70, 6,467 yards) Tuesday.

Morganti led a field of 78 #PattersonCup hopefuls on Tuesday. The cut line eventually stopped at 3-over 73, giving 23 players invitations to the championship proper.

The medalist jarred four birdies on the day, plus an electric eagle on the par-5, 514-yard 10th hole. Just one bogey appeared on the day’s low card.

This event marks the second of three qualifying opportunities for the championship proper.

The 120th Patterson Cup presented by Provident Bank is scheduled for Aug. 3-4 at St. Davids Golf Club. The format for the championship is 36-hole individual stroke play over two days, 18 holes each day. The low 60 scores and ties will advance to Day Two of competition. The field will be limited to 144 players who have either gained exemption into the championship proper or have qualified via a Patterson Cup qualifying event.
