James Kania, Jr. of Overbrook GC and Cole Willcox of Philadelphia CC won the 46th Hoffner Memorial Invitational at Sandy Run CC June 26. The Hoffner is a three day four-ball stroke play event, with a cut after the first two days in both the gross and net divisions.

In the gross division, Willcox and Kania held off the teams of Matt Raudenbush of Pine Valley GC and Bobby Arthur of Tavistock CC, PJ Tighe of Little Mill CC and Kyle Raudenbush of Pine Valley GC, Andy and Ray Thompson of Overbrook GC and Bob Drygas of Sandy Run CC and Mark Carrigan of Pecan Grove Plantation to win with a three-day total of 20 under-par.
The winners opened the tournament by shooting a 9-under-par 63, leading the teams of James Muller of Manufacturers G&CC and Michael Domenick of Phoenixville CC by only two strokes and the Thompson team by three. After the first two days, Willcox and Kania held a four-stroke advantage over the rest of the field and held on to their lead by shooting a 5-under-par 67 on the final day. The team of Raudenbush and Arthur closed the gap by shooting an 8-under-par 64, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the leaders.
In the net division, the team of Drygas and Carrigan edged out the team of Nick Tino of Sandy Run CC and Glen Schreiner of The Club at Patriots Glen in Maryland in a sudden-death playoff.
Drygas and Carrigan finished the tournament with a 12 under-par gross score that would have been good enough for 4th place, but their net score put them in a tie for the net division lead.
At the end of two rounds, the teams of Tino/Schreiner and Drygas/Carrigan were tied at 22 under-par leading the field by six strokes. Both teams shot 8 under-par on Sunday to remain tied. On the first playoff hole, Carrigan and Schreiner both had birdie putts. Schreiner missed his putt from 30 feet, but Carrigan holed his 12 footer for the win.
