Gary Farrar, a past Delaware State Golf Association president, died unexpectedly on Oct. 4. He was 79.

He served as president of the DSGA from 2007-09. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and founded the Reston Corporation where he developed real estate in Delaware.
He was an avid golfer and member of Hartefeld National. Aside from his presidency, he spent a number of years as a tournament official for the DSGA. He was an avid competitor and supporter of the Association.
He is survived by his wife Karen; two daughters, Adrian Farrar of Elkton and Amy Finnegan (Doug) of Enid, Okla.; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Luke and Madelynn Finnegan.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Celebrating Amateur Golf since 1897, GAP, also known as the Golf Association of Philadelphia, is the oldest regional or state golf association in the United States. It serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region. The organization’s 345 Member Clubs and 110,000 individual members are spread across Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. The GAP’s mission is to promote, preserve and protect the game of golf.
