Saturday marked the beginning of Major Qualifying season, and it didn’t disappoint.

A pleasant day at Olde Homestead Golf Club (par 72, 6,363 yards) offered up the opportunity to play in the 39th GAP Middle-Amateur Championship for many. The day’s Qualifying cut line eventually stopped at 4-over 76. In total, 24 players advanced to the championship proper.

Medalist honors were shared by the home club’s Kyle Pritchard and Fieldstone Golf Club’s Joseph Tigani, who each fired solid 1-under 71s for the day’s low rounds. Pritchard collected a scorecard of four birdies paired with just three bogey blemishes to take the top spot. The 35-year-old resident of Coplay, Pa. will now make his second GAP Major debut after playing in the 2019 #GAPMidAm previously. Tigani’s three birdies helped propel his round. The 26-year-old, who resides in Hockessin, Del., will be making his #GAPMidAm debut.

The 39th GAP Middle-Amateur Championship takes place May 24-25 at Jericho National Golf Club.
