Clarks Summit clubs welcome new pros

Meet a pair of new faces at GAP/AGA facilities in Clarks Summit, Pa.

Kyle Faris is the golf professional at Glen Oak Country Club. Faris, 34, of Scranton, Pa., previously served as an assistant golf professional at Bidermann Golf Club in Wilmington, Del. He started in the Carolinas PGA Section with stops at Forest Lake Club and DeBordieu Club. Faris graduated from Clemson University in 2011.

John Rogers became Country Club of Scranton’s head golf professional in August 2023 following a four-year stint as a senior assistant professional at Baltusrol Golf Club. Rogers, 34, of Clarks Summit, Pa., also spent time in the PGA Metropolitan Section at facilities including Rockaway Hunting Club, Garden City Golf Club, Westhampton Country Club and The Creek. A Long Island, N.Y. native, he graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2012.

Celebrating Amateur Golf since 1897, GAP, also known as the Golf Association of Philadelphia, is the oldest regional or state golf association in the United States. It serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region. The organization’s 345 Member Clubs and 110,000 individual members are spread across Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. The GAP’s mission is to promote, preserve and protect the game of golf.
