Egan, Ferretti win Over/Under 50 Tournament

Glen Oak Country Club’s James Egan and Country Club of Scranton’s Joe Ferretti won a weather-shortened 25th Over/Under 50 Tournament at Elmhurst Country Club (par 72, 6,233 yards) Monday.

The team carded a 4-under-par 32, tied atop the leaderboard with Pocono Farms Country Club’s Mark Bartkowski and Country Club of Scranton’s Frank Kacvinsky. Egan and Ferretti prevailed in a scorecard playoff.

Multiple weather delays forced GAP/AGA officials to reduce the event from 18 to nine holes.

The Over/Under 50 Tournament pairs an individual 50 years of age or older with an individual younger than 50 years of age. It is a better-ball competition.

Play was suspended at 9:52 a.m. due to lightning in the area. It resumed at 11:30 a.m. Weather again pulled competitors off the golf course at 2:20 p.m. Given another thunderstorm threat and forthcoming darkness, GAP/AGA officials declared the Over/Under 50 Tournament a nine-hole event. Groups returned to the course at 4:30 p.m., all completing the front nine. Regulation concluded at 6:35 p.m.
