A new kind of competition is coming to the GAP Region.
Doubles Golf, a competitive but relaxed national scramble competition for amateur golfers, is having a national qualifier administered by GAP Aug. 3 at Out Door Country Club in York, Pa. Registration opens at 9 a.m. June 25.
Teams that earn the top qualifying position in each of the two divisions, Men’s and Mixed, will earn entry into the 2026 Doubles Golf National Championship Oct. 25–27 at The Bears Club in Jupiter, Fla.
The event’s format is gross two-player scramble. Each player on the team hits from the teeing area, the team then decides on the best shot and plays each player’s ball from there. Play continues in this manner until the ball is holed. The event will utilize a shotgun start beginning at 1 p.m.
“Our long term vision for Doubles Golf is for all ability levels to have a pathway to a National Championship,” GAP Director of Member Services Steve Latos said. “One of the most difficult things for new golfers to do is transition from easy entry points like mini-golf or a driving range to a standard round of golf. A partner event like Doubles Golf gives players a chance to gain valuable on course experience without the pressure of needing to contribute for an entire hole. Consistent exposure to this format is a great gateway to all other types of on-course golf format.”.
Participants must be 25 years of age or older. Each team must consist of at least one GAP Member. Each division is capped at the first 20 teams. Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Lunch and cart fees are included in the registration fee.
GAP will accommodate pairing requests at the close of registration.
