Lennon’s role will be to be an integral leader of the Team Delaware program and to further the mission of fostering future generations of American golf talent in the First State.

“This is a brand new opportunity for me so I am excited to get started,” Lennon, 66, of Wilmington, Del., said. “I am honored to be selected to be the coach for Team Delaware. I am excited to see how it plays out and how we can better develop junior golf talent in Delaware.”

Lennon is in his 17th year as the Director of Instruction at Wilmington Country Club. Throughout his career, he has had a strong touchpoint in junior golf.

He created the South Jersey Junior Golf Foundation and helped push numerous junior golfers from Wilmington to Division I programs. He’s been named to Golf Digest’s Best Teachers In Every State numerous times most recently in the 2025-26 listing.

“After a couple of lessons, usually the student has a pretty decent handle on the best mechanics for their game,” Lennon said. “Teaching players to play golf and not play golf swing is important as well. I feel a lot of people get locked into simulators and get too technical. More players need to get on the course and learn how to play golf. I am also a big believer that being able to play golf competitively yourself and teach well is important.”
