U.S. Middle-Amateur Championship Qualifier,

CARLISLE, Pa. — Jeff Frazier used home-course knowledge to his advantage Friday. The Carlisle Country Club veteran carded a 5-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors in U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying on his own stomping grounds (par 71, 6,344 yards).

Cedarbrook Country Club’s Kevin O’Brien and Kevin Grady of Catonsville, Md., a four-time Maryland State Golf Association Mid-Amateur Champion (2018-19, 2021-22), also advanced. The 41st U.S. Mid-Amateur will take place Sept. 10-15 at Erin Hills (Erin, Wisc.). Blue Mound Golf & Country Club (Wauwatosa, Wisc.) will serve as the second stroke-play qualifying site.
Frazier, who currently leads the GAP Senior Player of the Year race, carded five birdies against zero bogeys. One of those conversions came on Carlisle’s closer (par 5, 542 yards), an apropos way to seal the day’s top honor.
