Michelle Murphy of Sherrill, N.Y. carded a 4-over-par 76 to claim medalist honors in U.S. Senior Women’s Open Qualifying administered by GAP at Steel Club (par 72, 5,879 yards).
Murphy occupied one of four qualifying positions available. Joining her in the Championship proper are professionals Yuko Ogura of Japan and Karen Nobel of Chatham, N.J. as well as amateur Monica Pedano of Wayne, Pa. The cutline stopped at 6-over-par 78 by day’s end.
The 5th U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship will be contested at Waverley Country Club in Portland, Ore. Aug. 24-27.

Celebrating Amateur Golf since 1897, GAP, also known as the Golf Association of Philadelphia, is the oldest regional or state golf association in the United States. It serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region.
