James Kania, Jr. of Overbrook GC, the 2009 Amateur runner-up, parred No. 18 (par 4, 426 yards), the sixth playoff hole, to take the seventh and final match play position in the 111th Amateur Championship Qualifier on Wednesday morning at Manufacturers G&CC (par 71, 6,587 yards).
Kania and seven others tied for 27th in yesterday’s qualifying with a 148 total.
A weather delay at North Hills CC on Tuesday, the second qualifying site, forced a delay in the playoff until this morning.
The top 32 players advanced into match play.
Also advancing were Peter Barron, III of Stone Harbor GC; Robert Bechtold of Loch Nairn GC; Christopher Fuga of Phoenixville CC; Chip Lutz of LedgeRock GC; Andrew Mason of Huntingdon Valley CC and Jamie Slonis of Tavistock CC.
Greg Jarmas of Philadelphia Publinks GA failed to advance. After steering his approach to the right on No. 18, Jarmas chipped down to eight feet but pushed his par try three feet past the jar.
