The Golf Association of Philadelphia’s 41st Senior Amateur Championship will take place Sept. 27-28 at Whitford CC in Exton, Pa.
The event was originally scheduled for Sept. 6-7 at Whitemarsh Valley CC, but flooding caused by Hurricane Irene rendered the venue unplayable. As a result, the Association moved its Senior Amateur Championship to Philadelphia CC. Severe rains again created unplayable course conditions and forced GAP officials to reschedule the event.
The 41st Senior Amateur Championship marks the final Senior Major of the 2011 season. It also determines the Senior and Super-Senior Silver Cross Award recipients. Michael Quinn of Edgmont CC leads the Senior Division by a stroke. In the Super-Senior Division, Charles McClaskey of Back Creek GC, the reigning Super-Senior Player of the Year, holds a 10-stroke advantage.
