Luke Scoville joins GAP’s Championship Department as Tournament Director.
Scoville, a Binghamton, N.Y. native, most recently served as Manager, Championship & Golf Operations at the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA).
“GAP is a really reputable golf association. It’s been around for over 125 years. I look forward to learning about the tradition, the golf courses, the volunteers, board members and staff,” Scoville, 28, of Bryn Mawr, Pa., said. “I experienced a good 5 ½ years with the Southern California Golf Association, another reputable organization, and I look forward to bringing my experiences and combining them with the experiences of GAP and further growing this Association.”
Prior to his time at SCGA, Scoville studied journalism at the State University of New York Oswego until his graduation in 2019. From there, he accepted a P.J. Boatwright Internship in SCGA’s Communications & Marketing Department. He served in that capacity until he was hired full-time in 2021. In addition to his tournament responsibilities, he continued supporting the SCGA’s communications and marketing efforts.
“Coming from different backgrounds and departments at a previous golf association, I definitely will be eager to get involved with different departments and different committees and try to do my best to contribute to this organization,” Scoville said.
Scoville is the eighth staff member to join GAP’s Championship Department. In his role, he will be responsible for officiating GAP tournaments, serving as the official in charge, communicating with volunteers and providing general Championship Department support.
“I’m so pleased to have Luke join the team,” GAP Director of Competitions Kirby Martin said. “Luke’s experience as a P.J. Boatwright Intern and employee for the SCGA have prepared him to hit the ground running. On top of that, Luke is a fine young man with the drive to succeed and calm demeanor that will ensure his and the Department’s success.”
Scoville has remained an avid golfer since his childhood. He played on the Binghamton High School golf team, where he graduated in 2015. Outside of golf, he enjoys watching sports and actively roots for the Philadelphia Eagles.
