History

Founded in 1912 as Plymouth Country Club, The 1912 Club is one of Montgomery County’s most historic private golf clubs. Located in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, the club has preserved more than a century of golf tradition while continually evolving to meet the needs of its members. Today, this private golf club combines championship golf, outstanding amenities, and a rich history that dates back to the earliest years of organized golf in the Philadelphia region.

A Century of Championship Golf

The club’s founders established Plymouth Country Club on the former Alvin Haines Farm, a property that became available in 1912. The original farmhouse still forms part of today’s clubhouse, preserving an important connection to the club’s earliest days. Golf began with a nine-hole course, and growing membership quickly created the need for expansion. The club purchased additional land in 1924, and members began enjoying a full 18-hole championship course in 1927.

Renowned golf architect William Flynn helped shape the course during its early development. Although historians continue to debate the extent of his involvement, many of the course’s distinctive bunkering features reflect Flynn’s celebrated design style. His influence helped establish the layout as one of Montgomery County’s premier private golf clubs.

A Legacy That Continues

Today, The 1912 Club blends historic charm with modern amenities while honoring the vision of its founders. Members enjoy championship golf, exceptional practice facilities, dining, racquet sports, aquatics, fitness, and a full calendar of social events in a welcoming club environment.

Whether competing in a tournament, enjoying a casual round, or gathering with family and friends, members experience one of the Philadelphia area’s most respected private golf clubs. Above all, The 1912 Club continues to celebrate more than 100 years of championship golf, exceptional hospitality, and lasting tradition.

As a proud Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP) Member Club, The 1912 Club continues to play an important role in the area’s championship golf tradition.
