GAP is a breeding ground for those who wish to play collegiate golf. It’s a recognizable list, both locally and nationally, of names to come through the Junior circuit. Start with GAP Hall of Famers William Hyndman, III, J. Wood Platt and R. Jay Sigel, for example. Then take a look at recent names on the Junior board. This year’s Junior Boys’ Championship Final, presented by Citadel Banking, featured a pair of individuals in Austin Barbin and Patrick Sheehan who will compete for Division I programs (University of Maryland and Penn State University, respectively) in the fall. Furthermore, a substantial 20 golfers across the City 6 schools came through the GAP Junior circuit. Gaining exposure is key. GAP is the summer gateway.

  • The Junior Boys’ Championship turned 105 years old this season, it is believed to be the oldest Junior Championship in the country.
  • Juniors are eligible to compete in any Major against the best players in Philadelphia, if handicap eligible.
  • A major collegiate championship visited the region in 2019, as Philadelphia Cricket Club hosted the Big Ten Men’s Golf Championships.
  • Eight GAP players were selected to PING All-Region teams in 2019.
