ELVERSON, PA. – Overbrook GC amended the Golf Association of Philadelphia record books Thursday by winning the Team Championship at Stonewall’s North Course.
The club now holds 13 solo Team titles — one clear of Huntingdon Valley CC. Overbrook also tied Atlantic City CC in 1989 and Yardley CC in 1996.
In its victory at Stonewall, Overbrook scored 27 points to topple Philadelphia CC, 21 points; Mercer Oaks GC, 17 points; and Yardley CC, 7.5 points. It established an early advantage by attaining 11 points in the morning Foursomes portion of the event.
Representing the Overbrook squad were James Kania, Jr., Michael Kania, Chris Lange, Chris Lange, Jr., Brad McFadden, Frank McFadden, Oscar Mestre, Andy Thompson and Raymond Thompson. The club last captured the Team Championship in 2005.
