Spring Net Championship
JAMISON, Pa. – Robert Felter of Lancaster CC carded a 3-under-par 67 (net) to take the Spring Net Championship at Bucks County GC (par 70, 6,087 yards) Tuesday.
The 68-year-old, who resides in Lancaster, Pa., registered six birdies (net) to outlast the 56-player field.
“I got up and down from everywhere and had a lot of par-putt saves,” said the four-year GAP volunteer. “It was like I had a one-man scramble out there.”
Added the 10-handicap, “I have been in the worst slump for the past three months. I guess this will end that.”
Last year’s Spring Net Champ, Walt Neumann of McCall G&CC, finished in a tie for first in the first flight with Tim Ungrady of Edgmont CC with a net 70.
Greg Smith of Brandywine CC, a sports management professor at Cheyney University, finished first in the second flight and second place overall with a net 68, the only other sub-par net total of the day.
Jim Flick took the third flight with an even-par 70 (net).
