MARLTON, N.J. — Charles McClaskey’s storybook season continues. The Back Creek GC member carded a 1-over-par 72 to take the Super-Senior Division in the Frank H. Chapman Memorial (Gross) Monday at Little Mill CC (par 71, 6,122 yards). McClaskey is now one victory away from a 2011 sweep. The reigning Super-Senior Player of the Year also captured the Warner Cup (Gross) at Lu Lu CC and the Brewer Cup at Bellewood GC.

“We have four [Super-Senior] events, and I’m striving to win four events,” McClaskey, 72, said. “I’m striving to see if I can get lucky enough to win four. I’ve been working pretty hard at it. So far, I’ve had a bang-up year.”
Monday was no exception. Four holes best defined McClaskey’s triumphant round. Starting on the back nine, the Elkton, Md. resident hit a 60-degree wedge 90 yards to 35 feet on No. 10 (par 4, 295 yards). McClaskey then three-putted to card a bogey 5. He again encountered trouble on the par 4, 432-yard 14th hole. He failed to reach the green with a 50-yard pitch shot. Three strokes exhausted, McClaskey came on and two-putted for double bogey.
He calmed a brewing storm with a birdie on the next hole (par 4, 344 yards). McClaskey thumped a transition wedge 115 yards to 12 feet. He set his round on auto-pilot, registering eight of nine greens in regulation on his inward trek. McClaskey sprinkled in a birdie on No. 8 (par 4, 398 yards). He struck a 7-iron 147 yards to three feet.
“I hit a lot of good shots today,” McClaskey said. “I was always around everything.”
