Founded in 1897, GAP continues to champion golf for the benefit of the game in its region and beyond.

The inaugural GAP/AGA Player’s Dinner celebrated the tournament season — and the champions therein — at Fox Hill Country Club on Nov. 8.
The GAP/AGA Players of the Year were honored during the event.
Dennis Corvo, Joseph Coleman and Bill Lawler were honored as Anthracite Lifetime Members. The trio contributed significantly to the evolution of golf in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Corvo, 74, of Peckville, Pa., served on the Anthracite Golf Committee for more than three decades, the majority of which as treasurer and tournament chairman. He also spent time on the USGA regional committee. The late Coleman held a near-identical tenure on the Anthracite Golf Committee. He served as secretary and junior tournament chairman for more than 20 years.
The Lawler Junior Tour is named in honor of the late Lawler, who is largely credited with starting Anthracite’s junior programming. During the tour’s infancy, Lawler singlehandedly administered each event. The Lawler Junior Tour includes 10-15 events annually, highlighted by a Tournament of Champions with two age divisions: 10-14 and 15-18. Lawler was a longtime Fox Hill member.
