Joseph Hussey, a longtime Rolling Green Golf Club member and father of Francis X. Hussey, died Jan. 20. He was 88.

Hussey, of Havertown, Pa., captured two men’s championship titles at Rolling Green and record 13 aces in his golf career. The Francis X. Hussey Memorial, a GAP better-ball of partners event for Junior golfers, is named in his son’s honor.
Francis X. Hussey suffered from congenital heart disease and died in December 1983 at the age of 13 while undergoing major heart surgery. Francis was a student in the Haverford Township School system, an avid sports fan and an active Junior member at Rolling Green.
Joe Hussey attended the Francis X. Hussey Memorial annually, observing participants during play and thanking all involved for their support of the event. He presented trophies and congratulated all division winners.
A Philadelphia, Pa. native, Hussey was the son of the late Francis and Kathryn Hussey (nee Peoples). He received his bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph University and then worked as an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance. He also served in the United States Army.
Hussey is survived by his wife Carole Hussey (nee Delaney). He was the loving father of Joe (Michelle), Danny, Jimmy, Tommy (Emily) Jennifer and the late Francis X. Hussey. He was the grandfather of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Betty Hollingsworth (the late Al), Eileen O’Hare (the late Jack) and the late Leo Hussey. Hussey is also survived by his sister-in-law, Betty Hussey.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral mass on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Dorothy Church, 4910 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, Pa. Interment will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Facemasks must be worn to the funeral mass and cemetery. Social distancing is to be observed.
