- What are GHIN Challenges and how do I join?
Challenges are asynchronous net competitions held at featured public GAP Member Clubs. You can join via a pop-up notification in the GHIN Mobile App after posting a score at a participating course.
- Is there a cost to participate?
No. GHIN Challenges are a free, value-added benefit for all active GAP members. You only pay your standard green fees at the host course.
- Who is eligible to play?
Any male or female GAP member with an active GHIN Handicap Index® who is registered and authenticated in the GHIN Mobile App is eligible.
- How is my "Net Score" calculated?
Rankings use your Total Net Score (Adjusted Gross Score minus Course Handicap minus Total Par), based on your Top 3 rounds during the challenge period.
- What is the difference between "Ranked" and "Unranked"?
Ranked: You have completed the minimum 3 rounds and have a numerical spot on the leaderboard.
Unranked: You’ve joined the challenge but haven’t posted enough scores to qualify yet. - How should I post my scores?
Players are highly encouraged to use “Hole-by-Hole” score posting and post immediately after the round to ensure accurate Handicap Index calculation.
- Can I play in multiple GHIN Challenges at once?
No. You can only participate in one GHIN Challenge during each Challenge Period. Joining a Challenge at a different course will prompt you to leave your current Challenge and reset your progress.
- Do all types of rounds count?
No. Only individual, stroke-play rounds played in accordance with the Rules of Handicapping qualify. Scrambles, match play and rounds played alone are not eligible.
- Are there prizes for the winners?
Yes. The Top 5 finishers receive pro shop credit with first place receiving $150.
- What if the Challenge notification doesn’t appear?
Ensure your GHIN App is updated and “push notifications” are enabled. Rounds must be posted as “Home” or “Away.” “Practice” or “Competition” rounds may be excluded depending on the Challenge’s settings.
- What happens if I cannot post my score, or I make an error in my submission?
No problem, we can help. In the GHIN Mobile App, tap the “More” button in the bottom right of the home screen. Then, tap “Support & Legal” and “Contact Us”. You’ll be prompted to send GAP’s Member Services Department an email with the necessary information to make the edit.
- Will scores be subject to review?
Yes. Following the conclusion of the challenge, GAP’s Handicap Committee will review score postings for those that placed and won prizes. While GHIN Challenges are meant to be a recreational competition, the integrity of the game remains a consistent priority. Abnormal posting patterns, such as scores posted after the date of play or in a cadence different than previous play, will need to be verified via peer review.
- What if I missed the popup on the GHIN App?
No problem! You can join the GHIN Challenge via the GHIN Challenges webpage. Select the “Join” link for the respective course you are interested in.
