The inaugural Dawn to Dusk golf marathon benefiting the J. Wood Platt Caddie Scholarship Trust will take place on Monday, July 26 at Huntington Valley Country Club. Sixteen Golf Association of Philadelphia Member Clubs have identified a player and captain to represent their facility and raise money for Philadelphia’s true golf charity.

The Dawn to Dusk fundraiser is simple. One player from each club will play as many holes as possible between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sponsors support a club by pledging a dollar amount per hole or a flat dollar amount. Each contribution is 100 percent tax deductible.

Since the Trust’s inception in 1958, $13.7 million has been awarded to 3,150 caddies.

“I am lucky to be part of this … there is great fulfillment in helping hard working young men and women afford a higher education,” said Tina Gregor, a Platt Trustee and co-chair of Dawn to Dusk fundraiser. “Plus we get to give back to the ‘game’ that has given us so much.”

Clubs sending teams include Applebrook Golf Club, Cedarbrook Country Club, Galloway National Golf Club, Lehigh Country Club, Huntingdon Valley Country Club, Llanerch Country Club, Lookaway Golf Club, Manufactures Golf & Country Club, Old York Road Country Club, Philadelphia Country Club, Philmont Country Club, Sandy Run Country Club, Saucon Valley Country Club, Stonewall, Waynesborough Country Club and White Manor Country Club.

Jack Endicott, Chairman of the J. Wood Platt Trust, is certain that the Dawn to Dusk golf marathon will be an exciting new venue to raise awareness and promote the cause. “We have a variety of individuals participating from golf professionals to Junior Golfers. It is inspiring to witness their enthusiasm and plan to raise money.”

Upon the conclusion of the event, a barbecue reception will be provided for the generous sponsors and supporters to celebrate the day’s accomplishments of the players and money raised.
