Round One of the 24th GAP/AGA Junior Tournament of Champions at Fox Hill Country Club is in the books.

Country Club of Scranton’s Alec Hamilton heads the Boys’ Division (par 71, 6,034 yards). He carded a 1-over-par 72 and carries a four-stroke lead over Elmhurst Country Club’s Brady Mapes into Round Two. Four-time Girls’ Champion Gwendolyn Powell is once again in front of the Girls’ Division (par 73, 5,363 yards). The Elmhurst member carded a 3-under-par 70. She leads Shadowbrook Golf Club’s Hallie Brown by three strokes.
The Junior Tournament of Champions concludes tomorrow at Huntsville Golf Club.
The GAP/AGA Junior Tournament of Champions concludes the Lawler Junior Tour sponsored by Abington Center for Cosmetic & Family Dentistry and Community Bank. It is a two day, 36-hole event. Winners of a Lawler Junior Tour Series event, in addition to those who ranked high in scoring average/finish, make up the field.

Celebrating Amateur Golf since 1897, GAP, also known as the Golf Association of Philadelphia, is the oldest regional or state golf association in the United States. It serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region. The organization’s 340 Member Clubs and 100,000 individual members are spread across Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. The GAP’s mission is to promote, preserve and protect the game of golf.
