The inaugural Double-Digit Shamble will take place July 23 at Frosty Valley. The shamble format works as follows. Both members of a team hit a tee shot on each hole, select the best position and play their individuals balls from said position to complete the hole.
“The Double-Digit Shamble provides non-tournament golfers in GAP with an opportunity to venture out with their familiar group. It’s a fun golf outing with the possibility of staying at onsite cabins and playing again the next day or adventuring out to other local courses or attractions,” Larry McClure, 69, of Danville, Pa., a former GAP Board of Directors member and driving force behind the event’s creation, said.
Teams in the Double-Digit Shamble may include individuals 18 years of age or older with each member playing from their age/gender appropriate tees as assigned by the Committee. Cost is $150 per team and includes cart, lunch and a practice round; note that a cart is required for a practice round, and a mandatory $22 cart fee per player will be payable at the time of check-in.
The Double-Digit Shamble is open to male and female members of a GAP Member Club with a Handicap Index of 10.0 or higher. It is limited to the first 80 teams entered.

The GAP Central Tournament Series includes the following divisions: Amateur (19-49 years of age), Senior (50-64 years of age) and Super Senior (65 years of age or older). Should the number of participants in a division surpass 24, then two flights — as close to 12 players each without separating individuals of the same age bracket — will be created.
A Player of the Year competition in two divisions — Men’s Senior and Men’s Super-Senior — is part of the GAP Central Tournament Series. Points will be awarded based on the size of the field and player ranking in each event. The individual with the highest cumulative points earned during the tournament season will be awarded the Player of the Year designation in their respective division.
Cost for the Williamsport event is $80; cost for the Eagles Mere event is $75. Registration for the remaining events is $65 and includes cart fee, food and gross/net prizes. GAP Central participants can save $50 and enter the entire season via an exclusive season pass at $560 per player. Early bird registrants will be guaranteed entry into all events. Members can immediately select the event he or she wishes to enter prior to the event’s registration opening.
The GAP Central Junior Series is open to individuals 18 years of age or younger. Each event includes Division 1 boys, Division 1 girls or Division 2 boys & girls. Division 1 is recommended for those 13-18 years of age and will be contested over 18 holes. Division 2 is recommended for those 15 years of age or younger and will be contested over nine holes.
Participants may select division based on age and experience. However, GAP reserves the right to change a participant’s division. Furthermore, GAP expects participants in junior programming to possess course knowledge and golf swing experience.
Cost is $8 per event. Interested participants can take advantage of a one-time registration fee of $45 to enter all junior events. Families with multiple participants will receive a discount should they choose the seasonal option on their second and third child. Cost for a multi-junior season pass is $70.
