Founded in 1897, GAP continues to champion golf for the benefit of the game in its region and beyond.
The GAP/AGA region is ready like Player One.
Lame literary jokes aside, the 2023 schedule is here. The GAP/AGA season begins April 19 with the Modified Stableford at Huntsville Golf Club. It concludes Oct. 9 with the Carlyle Robinson Fall Four-Ball at Wyoming Valley Country Club. Merrill Lynch Wealth Management – Erickson, Hudacek & Leibman Group returns as presenting sponsor of GAP/AGA events.
Registration for the Modified Stableford Tournament, in addition to four other events, opens March 1 at 9 a.m.
The celebrated Coal Scuttle championships highlight the GAP/AGA calendar. Fox Hill Country Club hosts the 31st Women’s Coal Scuttle Championship and 9th Super-Senior Coal Scuttle Championship on Aug. 16. The 41st Senior Coal Scuttle Championship heads to Huntsville Golf Club on Sept. 13. Glen Oak Country Club and Wyoming Valley welcome the 73rd Men’s Coal Scuttle Championship Sept. 23-24.
The Lawler Junior Tour, sponsored by Abington Center for Cosmetic & Family Dentistry and Community Bank, begins in June. The cost is $10 for nine-hole golfers (Division II), $15 for 18-hole golfers (Division I). The Lawler Junior Tour, which began in 1983, is open to boys and girls 10 to 18 years of age.
As in years past, the GAP/AGA schedule includes Major qualifying: Middle-Amateur Championship (May 4 at Irem Country Club), BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship (May 16 at Berwick Golf Club), Open Championship (June 21 at StoneHedge Golf Course) and Joseph H. Patterson Cup (July 25 at Pocono Farms Country Club). U.S. Open Local Qualifying will take place on May 15 at Huntsville Golf Club.
Reminder: if you plan on competing in any GAP/AGA event, then you must first create a Golf Genius account through GAP’s registration form.
