| UPDATED: 2020 AGA/GAP Schedule |
Even COVID-19 couldn’t completely slow down the highly-anticipated 2020 AGA/GAP schedule slate.
After weeks of rescheduling, the complete AGA/GAP schedule is now set in stone.
“We have a wonderful lineup that features some truly hidden gems, with some top-notch classic and modern courses, by some of the finest architects in golf,” Patrick Lloyd, GAP Director of Northeast Operations, said. “I hope the schedule continues to grow, and I invite golfers from all regions of the GAP to see for themselves what a terrific wealth of courses we have.”
If you plan on competing in any AGA/GAP events, then you must first create a Golf Genius account through GAP’s registration form. Once a Golf Genius account is created, then the online registration process can begin.
The 2020 AGA/GAP schedule, originally set to tee off April 15 with the 11th Modified Stableford Tournament at Huntsville Golf Club, will now begin June 15 with the Spring Stroke Play Championship at Glenmaura National Golf Club. The 14th Challenge Cup, an invitation-only event featuring the season’s top AGA/GAP performers, concludes the campaign Oct. 31 at Fox Hill Country Club.
New in 2020 is a Central Series Stroke Play Championship, which runs in conjunction with the GAP Central Series. It will take place July 23 at Bucknell Golf Club. The Central Series Stroke Play Championship joins the Spring Stroke Play Championship and Stroke Play Championship (July 1 at Fox Hill) on the list of AGA/GAP highlights.
On the Junior side, the AGA Lawler Junior Tour Series will now require an entry fee. Cost is $10 for nine-hole golfers (Division II), $15 for 18-hole golfers (Division I).
In addition to a 15-event stable, the AGA/GAP schedule also includes qualifying events for the GAP Majors (Middle-Amateur Championship, BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship, Open Championship and Joseph H. Patterson Cup) and a U.S. Open (Local) Qualifier (May 11 at Elmhurst Country Club). The AGA Lawler Junior Tour Series, which began in 1983, is open to boys and girls 10 to 18 years of age. It wraps up annually with the Tournament of Champions, set for July 27 at Fox Hill and July 28 at Huntsville.
Continue to call the Coal Scuttle championships calendar cornerstones. The 70th Men’s Coal Scuttle Championship will take place Sept. 28-29 at Glenmaura National and Wyoming Valley Country Club. Fox Hill will host the 38th Senior Coal Scuttle Championship on Sept. 2. The Super-Senior and Women’s Coal Scuttle championships will run concurrently on Aug. 19 at Fox Hill.
