Three teams take titles at Huntsville

Wemberly Hills Golf Club’s David Mecca, the 2023 Middle-Amateur Champion, joined forces with Cory Calvert of Country Club of Scranton to capture the 16th Modified Stableford (par 72, 6,358 yards).

The team posted 43 points to break a three-way tie at 40 points. It is the first Modified Stableford title for the Mecca and Calvert team.

In the Senior Division (par 72, 5,998 yards), reigning GAP/AGA Senior Player of the Year Ken Bolcavage and 2023 honoree Mark Bartkowski edged two teams by a point for the top spot. Bolcavage, an Elkview Country Club member, and Bartkowski, who hails from Pocono Farms Country Club, posted 39 points.

In the Super-Senior Division (par 72, 5,333 yards), Emanon Country Club’s Len Coleman and Nittany Country Club’s Vince Scarpetta posted 41 points. A Coleman birdie on No. 18 (par 4, 338 yards) allowed the team to squeeze past Wyoming Valley Country Club’s Joseph Weiscarger and Charles Brand of the host club.

The Modified Stableford Tournament is a better-ball-of-partners event.
