Registration for the 125th edition is now open. GAP’s premier major will take place June 9-11 & 13 at Aronimink Golf Club, which will serve as the primary host. Radley Run Country Club will be a qualifying host on Day One. It’s open to male GAP Member Club golfers with a handicap index of 5.0 or lower.
The path to the J. Wood Platt Trophy starts with BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship Qualifying at these five sites.
Aronimink has served as the primary host of the BMW Philadelphia Amateur a total of eight times including 2025. Most recently, Michael McDermott of Merion Golf Club defeated Alexander Hicks of Wildwood Golf & Country Club, 5&4, in 2013.
The winner of the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship receives an automatic bid into the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Additionally, the BMW Amateur runner-up as well as the two semifinalists from that championship earn exemptions into 2026 U.S. Amateur Final Qualifying.
The BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship is GAP’s premier individual championship. Participants must first advance through a one day, 36-hole stroke-play qualifier to gain one of the 32 available match play positions. Those who qualify for match play must advance through one of four matches in two days to reach the BMW Philadelphia Amateur Final, which is typically held on the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend. The winner receives the J. Wood Platt Trophy: its namesake holds a record-seven BMW Philadelphia Amateur Championship titles.
