Defending Champion Yardley CC heads Team Championship Qualifier at Llanerch CC

  HAVERTOWN, Pa. – Last year’s champion Yardley CC led three other teams advancing to the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s 88^th Team Championship with a 10-over-par 294 in the qualifier on Monday at Llanerch Country Club (par 71, 6,638 yards).

 Twenty-five clubs fielded a team of six players, with the lowest four scores counting toward the total.

  Chris Ault and Glenn Smeraglio led the Yardley CC squad with a pair of 2-over-par 73s, followed by 2006 Patterson Cup Champion and Silver Cross Award winner Stephen Arnold and Philip Bartholomew with 74s.

  Low men for Commonwealth National GC and Tavistock CC were Michael Moffat (72) and Jamie Slonis (74), respectively.

  The finals at Rolling Green GC will consist of eight-man teams playing an alternate shot format in the morning, with singles matches in the afternoon.

  Founded in 1897, the Golf Association of Philadelphia (GAP) is the oldest regional golf association in the United States and serves as the principal ruling body of amateur golf in its region.
