Architect Series Returns for 2023
The GAP Architect Series is like the Avatar films — minus the 13-year waiting period.
The tournament programming, which debuted in 2021 and highlighted William Flynn, returns for a 2023 sequel. This time Donald Ross is the lead actor.
“We are thrilled to bring back the Architect Series again,” Mario Machi, GAP Director of Member Services, said. “After the success of the William Flynn series in 2021, we knew that the GAP membership would want another chance to experience more courses from the Philadelphia School of Design, and Donald Ross was a natural choice for the second iteration of this event. We have five outstanding courses and can’t wait to show them off.
The GAP Architect Series honors some of the world’s most notable golf course architects. It gives GAP members a chance to experience some of their finest work. Below is a list of Ross courses on tap.
• St. Davids Golf Club (May 8)
• Union League Golf Club at Torresdale (June 5)
• Country Club of York (July 17)
• Riverton Country Club (Aug. 28)
• LuLu Country Club Club (Sept. 25)
Each GAP Architect Series event includes lunch and golf. The scoring format for each event is individual stableford. The winner in each event will receive pro shop credit and the overall champion from the five-event series will get an additional prize. In addition to those five events, participants will receive a tee gift and a $50 gift card for use at Jeffersonville Golf Club, another Ross design. That, in essence, makes six playing afforded by the GAP Architect Series.
The finale, at LuLu CC, will include dinner with a presentation by Bradford Becken, president of the Donald Ross Society.
Cost to participate in the GAP Architect Series, which includes entry into all five events, is $1,250 per person. Male and female members of GAP Member Clubs are eligible.
Registration opens Jan. 23 at 9 a.m. Click here to view the event portal and register at that time. The GAP Architect Series is limited to the first 100 registrants. A participant can substitute if he/she is unable to attend one of the events.
