Jason Funderburg has joined the Golf Association of Philadelphia staff as Tournament Operations Assistant.

In this position, Funderburg will focus on administering the Member Play Day lottery process, manage all volunteer communications, distribute all email marketing campaigns, process USGA Amateur Status reinstatements and assist the Tournament department with all events and operations.

“I’m eager to be working with the Tournament department, as I have developed a passion for working in events and operations and am thrilled to continue to do so,” Funderburg, 25, of Conshohocken, Pa. “While my golf background may be limited, I’m extremely excited to be more involved in the game and will provide any insight that can support the Association.”   Funderburg graduated from West Virginia University in May 2015, where he majored in sport management. During his time there, Funderburg served as a student manager for the women’s basketball team. He also spent time as a marketing intern for the Wilmington Blue Rocks during his summer breaks.

Funderburg, a Conestoga High School graduate, has spent the past few years gaining valuable working experience in the sports industry. He first served as an event coordinator for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, and most recently, held a position with the Philadelphia 76ers as a Community Engagement Associate. Golf has become his newest endeavor after discovering the game while working as a caddie at Waynesborough Country Club, a track he grew to love.

“I love the camaraderie and passion that golf inspires among players,” said Funderburg. “I am excited to join an organization – the oldest regional association in the country – that celebrates and promotes these qualities. I’m excited to get to work and look forward to getting to know all the GAP players.”
